- Character History
Jakil has proven his master of battle and has infected those around him with the passion to prevail in any fight. No matter the odds, Jak is a treacherous combatant and an inspiring role-model for younger assassins. His prowess with a blade comes naturally sense he and his twin brother were schooled by two of the best “killahs” the Zandalari have ever produced. Born on an island in the South Seas and raised by his father, an exalted “slice'ah”, and his mother, a renown “stabbah”, Jakil was inculcated into rogue warfare from his earliest years.
At the age of nine, a marauding Dwarf convoy decimated Jak’s village, killing all but a handful of the inhabitants. Camouflaged by his parents sacrifice in attacking two squads of elite officers, Jak and his twin brother utilized their uncanny stealthing abilities to escape detection and certain death. Orphaned and alone, Jakil and his brother lived off the land and traveled sixty miles to the nearest harbor, at the time, occupied by the Dwarven fleet. This perilous journey was punctuated by numerous skirmishes and close calls which strengthened an already strong sense of unity, purpose, and cooperation between the twins. It also required the honing of the individual abilities that Jakil and his brother had a proficiency in, in order to overcome more powerful and experienced opponents. Almost imperceptible in battle, Jakil relies more heavily on the teachings of his father, by using his strength to power the blade through cartilage and bone. On the other hand, his brother utilizes more of his mothers training, by the precise positioning of his blades, for the kill shot. This lethal combination served the duo in not only their pilgrimage to their port departure point but also as the foundation upon which their notorious reputation would be built.
Jak and his brother secured passage on a ship bound for Theramore Island, Kalimdor, and remained undetected for their entire voyage. Upon arrival at Theramore, the Jak brothers again evaded capture by performing the impossible task of passing through the town undetected. The twins traveled north into Durotar and finally arrived at a secure location of the Sen’jin Village. Upon hearing their story, Vol’Jin, the leader of the Darkspear Trolls, recognized the twin’s honorable lineage and was astounded with their ability to make such a perilous journey. He immediately secured his most skilled trainers to further enhance the Jak brother’s repertoire of fighting skills. Jak and his brother learned many things in their six year stay with Vol’Jin and the Darkspear Trolls. Weapons training, tactics, and leadership skills were improved but a more subtle change occurred in their disposition towards the Alliance. While their hatred for the Dwarves was understandable, under the tutelage of Vol’Jin, they expanded this dispisal for the entire Alliance and deepened their resolve to wreck their vengeance upon them.
When Jak came of age, he and his brother decided to put their skill of fighting to the real test. They left the security of Sen’jin Village and struck out on their own on a two part quest; to ruthlessly destroy the Alliance and to assist any Horde faction with similar goals. Time past and Jak and his brother built reputations as vicious and merciless killing machines. At the rise of the Lich King, and Thralls ill advised ovation to the Alliance to seize hostilities, the Jak’s became disenfranchised and bitter. Since any agreement for non-combat with the Alliance was totally unacceptable, the brothers had to seek out a faction that was equally disgusted with this prospect.
The nomadic lifestyle and contact with numerous Horde clans revealed that one group existed that matched the intense hatred and everlasting grudge that the brothers felt for the Alliance, and had an impeccable record for achievement in defeating them. The Blacktooth Grin was a no-brainer fit for the philosophy and passion of Jak and Jak. The initiation process typified the Spartan attitude and mindset that are the hallmarks of this great guild. Although this process was as difficult as it was painful, for the Jak brothers, any amount of hardship and degradation is worth another shot at fulfilling their grudge and avenging their parents.
