Early Life

Little is known of the warlock with the nasty disposition. He was born on Dreanor and raised a member of Gul'dan's Stormreaver clan. His parents were ardent followers of Gul'dan and Bok'theg embraced the demon taint early on. As he studied fel magic under Gul'dan, Bok'theg gleefully participated in the wars against the Draenei. By the time of passage through the dark portal, Bok'theg was a fanatical follower of Gul'dan. Bok'theg was lucky to survive Doomhammer's extermination of the Stormreaver Clan. As part of the Stormreaver rear-guard, he was captured, ironically enough, by the Blacktooth Grin, while Gul'dan and his retinue went on to die in the Tomb of Sargeras. Like most orcs, he spent his time in the internment camps and was later freed by Doomhammer and Thrall. As the orcs traveled to Kalimdor, Bok'theg gravitated to Grom Hellscream's Warsong. Feeling the strength and bloodlust of that clan and it's leader, he reveled in Grom's drinking of Mannoroth's blood once again. Though the orcs were eventually freed of the demonblood curse, Bok'theg never gave up his study of necromancy. He strove to blend in with the rest of the horde and kept quiet about his study of fel magic. It was in Ogrimmar that he first heard of the return of the Blacktooth Grin and Gorfrunch's leadership of the clan. When he heard about the Grin's campaign in Khaz Modan, he thought it might be a place where he could earn a living. With mercenary motives he sought them out.

Desolace and the Shadow Council

As the Grin began their campaign in Desolace, Bok'theg sought out the remnants of the Shadow Council in Thunderaxe Fortress hoping to be recieved as an initiate and grow in power. The unspeakable rituals, trials, and tortures he suffered under the tutelage of Al'arr remain unspoken to this day. The only evidence of his experience was a marked increase in power and a tremor of the hand which reveals itself in times of stress. The price demanded by the Shadow Council for its teachings was for Bok'theg to become their agent within the Grin. This mission he embraced enthusiastically. However, lack of communication from Shadow Council leadership and his own comfort within the clan increasing, Bok'theg kept more information to himself. Becoming a force of influence within his own right amongst the Grin, he continued to string the Council along for as long as it was useful to him. Although not well liked among the clan, his cunning allowed him to slowly rise to a position of officership. Under the Chieftain Yagyu, Bok'theg bided his time until he could find a way to make himself invaluable.

The Soulgem

Sometime following the Desolace campaign, rumors of the return of Gorfrunch Smashblade spread throughout the Grin. Worried about a power struggle, Yagyu allowed Bok'theg to build a soul locator to find the former Chieftain. With help from the mage Eydrana, Bok'theg created an item that would have lasting effects on the Grin for years to come. Taking 10 soulshards, Eydrana encased each in ice and merged them together. This was placed into a conjured soulwell. As the icy sphere was placed in the soulwell, Bok'theg conjured an Eye of Kilrogg and merged it with the ice sphere. This created a scrying mirror of sorts that was immensely powerful. However, it was also unstable and the ensuing explosion sent pieces of it into all corners of the Inn at Stonard. Gathering a few of the pieces Bok'theg and Eydrana once again merged them into what they called "the soulgem". The creation of this item would color the rest of their relationship. In his desire to obtain the gem, Bok'theg gave Eydrana a contract allowing her a favor of her choosing at any time. It was at this time that Gorfrunch's return became reality. Fearing the influence of the former Warchief, Yagyu authorized Bok'theg to use the soulgem to imprison Gorfrunch's being. Such effort required a suitable powersource however and seeking out the nearest it could find, it began to siphon life from both Bok'theg and Eydrana. Before she could use her contract, the gem began killing her. Being a warlock and better able to withstand the effects of siphoned life, Bok'theg remained less and less affected. Finally, the gem used all of Eydrana's lifeforce and she died. Needing a new source of life, Bok'theg directed the gem towards his last obstacle to power, Yagyu.

The Death of the Warchief

As the gem held Gorfrunch prisoner, Yagyu led the Grin in the taking of Stromgarde Keep. Although a sucessful campaign, the Chieftain's life was unknowingly being sapped by Bok'theg. As Yagyu grew weaker and weaker, the remnanats of the Keepers were able to escape to Menethil. Finally, realizing the warlock's treachery, Yagyu ordered the gem destroyed. Bok'theg obeyed and destroyed it, thus freeing Gorfrunch's soul. With his will now his own, Gorfrunch plotted against Yagyu and allowed him to be cut down in front of Menethil by the Keepers. Gorfrunch led the Grin back to Stromgarde and Bok'theg was left in a sort of political limbo. When the Grin finally vacated the Keep, Bok'theg took with him a remaining shard from the broken gem.

A Second Chance

With his former deeds forgotten, if not forgiven, Bok'theg now struggles to restore the gem and once again vies for power over the Blacktooth Grin.
