History of the Blacktooth Grin
At the end of the Second War, the majority of the Orcish people found themselves in internment camps, condemned to living out the rest of their lives with no hope for improvement, freedom, or - worst of all - battle. A lethargy settled over the race as a whole. The only ones free from this were a young Orc child being raised for gladiatorial battles, Rend Blackhand and the Blackrock clan hiding in the ruins of Blackrock Spire, the Dragonmaw clan in Dun Algaz, and a few here or there living from day to day as brigands and fugitives.
One pair of these brigands were Kavahl Foehammer and Gorfrunch Smashblade, former clansmen of the Blacktooth Grin, waging their own war in Lordaeron against whatever farms or towns they could raid for sustenance. As with most others in their situation, within a year of the end of the war, they fell into a trap, and were captured and placed in the camps with their brethren. Within two weeks, the light of battle went out of Kavahl's eyes, and Gorfrunch showed him mercy with a rock pried out of the cobbled ground.
Thrall's New Horde brought freedom to that camp the next day, and Gorfrunch went on to fight in the battles of the Third War, and acted as a foreman in the construction of Orgrimmar and Grommash Hold. Upon hearing the news of Thrall's truce with Jaina Proudmoore after the campaign against her father, however, Gorfrunch became disgusted with the Warchief's passivity and left to join his former Chieftain, Rend Blackhand, in Blackrock Spire.
Once there, he found himself reunited with many of his clansmen - now merged into the Blackrock Clan - and found joy, for a time. For the next year, he drilled the young and aided in forming the Scarshield Legion. However, during this time, unrest spread among the Blackrock, with no battles being fought, and more and more black dragons being seen in the upper reaches of the Spire. Gorfrunch found himself part of secret meetings to bring the clan into better leadership, and pitched his axe against his brothers' axes as Overlord Taugrek led many into open rebellion. Although it started well, after a few hours, scores of black dragons appeared from above and began burning them out, and Taugrek was slain. Gorfrunch took it upon himself to lead the remainder of the rebels away and traveled to Kalimdor, where he and his band began fighting the humans of Theramore from a secret stronghold in Dustwallow Marsh. Soon, a wanted notice was put out in Orgrimmar for the capture of the bandits, but this only seemed to worsen the situation as scores of Orcs, Trolls, Tauren, and even Forsaken, disillusioned with Thrall's peace, embraced the rise of the Blacktooth Grin and went to join those who would fight where the New Horde would not...
